Saunders Terrell, mais conhecido como Sonny Terry (24 de outubro de 1911, Greensboro, Carolina do Norte - 11 de março de 1986, Mineola, Nova Iorque [1]) foi um músico de blues cego. Ele era mais conhecido por seu estilo enérgico harmonica blues, que freqüentemente incluída gritos vocais e gritos, e imitações de comboios e caça raposa.

Seu pai, um agricultor, lhe ensinou a tocar blues básico na harpa quando jovem. Ele também apareceu em The Color Purple, dirigido por Steven Spielberg. Com Brownie McGhee, ele apareceu em 1979 a comédia de Steve Martin The Jerk. Terry colaborou com o Ry Cooder em "Away Walkin 'Blues", bem como uma capa de Blues de Robert Johnson "Crossroad" para o filme Crossroads 1986. Mais recentemente, a faixa de Terry "Whoopin 'The Blues" foi usado para um comercial da marca EON Wind Farm. Ela também apareceu no filme 24 Hour Party People (Winterbottom, 2002).
Terry morreu de causas naturais, em Novembro de 1986, o ano em que foi introduzido no Hall da Fama do Blues.

The 2nd Fret era um pouco comum em Philly que geralmente reservado folk músicos, foi um momento muito especial empenho Sonny & Brownie veio à cidade em abril de 1962.
